Languages

Our pupils learn French and Spanish, building a solid foundation for further foreign language teaching in key stage three. Learning a language lifts children out of their immediate environment into the wider world, both linguistically and culturally. We aim to inspire pupils to develop their foreign language skills in an active, enjoyable and informal way, so that everyone feels able to participate in a supportive and valued environment. Our focus is on practical communication and balances listening, spoken and written language.  We have developed good links with our local secondary school's language department to ensure our children successfully transition to the next stage of their language learning.

Our Golden Threads

In Modern Foreign Languages, we become citizens of the world through an introduction to customs and values belonging to a different society.

We are lifelong learning by developing communication and listening skills.

Our learning prepares us for later life by exerting a positive influence on thinking skills
